WP Plugin Sexy Bookmarks – Best Social Bookmarking Plugin
I have just upgraded my Sexy Bookmarks plugin for WordPress & now I have to say “well done guys!” You are the numero uno social plugin as far as I am concerned!
You can checkout the Sexy Bookmarks Plugin in action at the bottom of this page, although I only have 10 sites selected, you can choose far more from the 90 that are available.
Now I am not normally the sort of person to kiss butt or blow a lot of hot air up someones rear end, but credit where credit is due, these guys have actually taken note of the current situation with regard to site load times & have actually amended their plugin to allow the java script to be loaded in the footer, instead of in the header where it used to load.
What’s The Difference..?
Is there any difference..? well actually yes there is, when this plugin loaded in the header, it was actually costing me around 1 to 1.5 seconds in load times! Because of this, I often removed this plugin just to help save a little time, but as we all know, it is of benefit to our readers to have such a plugin on the post page. So I was in a catch 22 situation, remove the plugin & gain a little in site load time, but obviously lose out on the chance of readers bookmarking my pages, or leave the plugin installed & hope the site was not too slow..?

The problem caused by scripts is that they block parallel downloads. The HTTP/1.1 specification suggests that browsers download no more than two components in parallel per hostname. If you serve your images from multiple hostnames, you can get more than two downloads to occur in parallel. While a script is downloading, however, the browser won’t start any other downloads, even on different hostnames.
For your average blogger to be able to hack these plugins in order to get them loading in the footer or the bottom of the page, is a real headache & very often is a non starter. But for those people that build the plugins originally, in most cases this is childs play! My hope now is that as someone has finally taken the lead, will all others now follow their superb example.
The Sexy Bookmarks Plugin for WordPress has to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing of all the social bookmarking plugins, it offers a whopping 90 social networks to choose from. The icon quality is excellent, having the effect of being 3d & with the use of Java they actually slide open on mouse over. If your looking for a decent social bookmarking plugin, then my advice to you would be to check out “Sexy Bookmarks” before making any decisions.

Yes this is the problem,
we fill our pages with all these little gadgets & plugins and to be honest with you, very few people ever use them! I have a feeling that maybe the social bookmarking & social networking may have reached saturation point & the novelty is now wearing off !
I have installed SBM on about three of my blogs/websites, thought it would be a really good plugin to use but I’m not sure that visitors even take any notice of the plugin, let alone use it to recommend the post that they have read on my site to anyone else. Think I might take it out now!
Very stylish plugin, implemented it on my blog after experimenting with a few different social bookmark plugins, this is by far the best, very impressed!

Just got to say that I love this Plugin. It looks great and best of all is that they keep upgrading it now and then so that you know they will tweak everything to make it work even better.
One tip that I could share is if you have a lot of visitors to your site, reading alot of your posts is to find the file located in
yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/sexybookmarks/spritegen/shr-custom-sprite.png and do a image optimization on it. This will shrink the image making you use less bandwith and also making your posts load a little faster.
Keep in mind that if you reconfigure your settings of which icons to show you will have to optimize the image again.
