Website Traffic In Just 5 Days

Well lets see, I submitted the site to the search engines on the 3rd Sept 09, since then I have spent a little of my time tweaking a few things on the new theme & the majority of my time using the Social Bookmarking /Networking sites for a bit of website promotion. Oh and of course I have written the odd bit of content obviously ! I also found some time to do a little keyword research using Google’s Keyword Tool which proved very interesting, but that is for another article.

The Effectiveness Of Social Networking

So what we are looking at here is potentially an average of 50 visitors per day & not a single one from a search engine, nevertheless whilst I agree that this is not targeted traffic by any means, I have still got my new Blog seen by an average of 50 people per day, which over a month is going to be somewhere near 1,500 & if only 10% turn out to be return visitors, then we are on the right track. Website Traffic In Just 5 Days

Huh is that all I hear someone scoff !

Yes that is all, after all we are only talking about the first 5 days since the site was submitted & I know from past experience that you need at least 6 months to see any signs of reasonable ranking starting to  filtering through, (dependant of course on your keywords & niche). Yes we could triple these figures by using black hat  tactics, but for how long would you reap your crooked success..?

So my friends slow and steady is the way to create a solid foundation for any website. Don’t ever get lured by the promise of stampeding visitors, floods of traffic or guaranteed top 10 rankings with our friends at Google. A good yard stick to measure these tales by is, “If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is !”

Everything you do with regard to your website or blog, will eat into your valuable time, so you really need above all else, to learn how to prioritize the various tasks.

As a general rule I like to follow these guidelines;

1. Prepare a site for submission, if you have any SEO optimizing software, then now is the time to use it.

2. When you are happy with the site’s SEO & you have approximately 12 articles already placed on the site, then it is time to submit. Bear in mind it does not need to be perfect, 75% will be good enough to start with.

3. Once the site is submitted to the search engines, you can normally wait at least 2 weeks to see evidence of some sort of listing start to appear. This is the time I like to set aside for social networking / bookmarking, because until you start to see the first sign of listings with the search engines, you don’t know just how good your initial research on your keywords has been.

Ok that about brings us up to date on the current progress, what has been done & what needs to done for the next few weeks e.g. Continue writing content & continue with the social networking. But just as a little teaser for you hahaha the image below shows the result of a ranking check I did this morning…?

Website Traffic In Just 5 Days

That result is after 5 days believe it or not ! And based on past experience I am very happy with the current situation. Oh and perhaps I should also explain that this domain was purchased some time back around January 2009. I started work on the site a little later, I think around April, but it got shelved as I moved on to another project for about 3 months. Nevertheless its first submission to any search engines was actually late on the 3rd Sept 2009.
