Social Bookmarking  & Blog Promotion

Using Social Bookmarking as a method of promoting your blog or website, can have it’s down side!

This is literally one of those areas you either love or hate when it comes to Blog visibility.

You can spend an enormous amount of time joining social bookmarking sites & then find that your efforts are not as fruitful as one would of hoped for.

Nevertheless using my own experience as an example;

I get on average around  180 hits per month on a website that is barely 3 months old, not really a stampede I know! but I don’t spend as much time as I should creating a social network of friends, therefore as far as I am concerned it is & would be worth a little more effort on my part.

Obviously some of the main factors that decides how many hits you get, are;

1. The number of social bookmark sites you use.

2. The quality of what you submit to these sites.

3. The amount of time spent creating a social network of friends on each of these sites.

If you can afford the time needed to create a social network on each of the social bookmark sites you choose and your articles are both interesting & informative, then without doubt you will benefit from increased visibility & traffic.

Whilst it is true that recent changes with some of these sites & the incorporation of the “nofollow” tag, now means you no longer benefit from added back links with some of them. However they are not all the same & whilst some of the top & most popular ones do now use the “nofollow” tag, this is not true of them all.
