Search Engine Optimization – Website Grader
When it comes to search engine optimization, I am always on the look out for tools that will aid my endeavours, one such tool I find very useful is a website called ” Website Grader “
It’s all well and good churning out article after article in the misguided belief that if you churn out enough, then at some point in the not too distant future, your blog will gain the recognition it rightfully deserves!
Unfortunately life & blogging is not that simple, especially as each year rolls by we find it harder and harder to achieve any sort of decent ranking with the search engines, not just because of changing algorithms, but also increased competition as more and more people set up their own websites or blogs.
Many of us are quite accomplished authors & do churn out some very good articles, but being a blogger is not just about writing articles, it can also encompass a little web design & of course some search engine optimization. Building a successful blog takes time & a lot of hard work, there is no easy route (well none that I have found anyway).
Grade Your Website
Website Grader is a free seo tool that measures the marketing effectiveness of a website. It provides a score that incorporates things like website traffic, SEO, social popularity and other technical factors. It also provides some basic advice on how the website can be improved from a marketing perspective.
Now don’t get me wrong here, I am not saying that website grader is the be all & end all when it comes to SEO, if that is what you seek then I suggest speaking to a reputable SEO company & being prepared to part with a large wad of cash ! However for those of us that are less inclined, or maybe cannot yet afford a specialist SEO company, Website Grader is a free to use tool that can offer some valuable insight into the current SEO performance of your blog & also suggests possible improvements where needed.
Additional Tools
There are also two sister sites now up & running, Twitter Grader & Blog Grader, by using all 3 tools you can now get an overall picture of how your blog / website & your Twitter account are progressing. In fact if your curious about other sites that you may be competing with, you can even run a check on them by simply typing in their URL.
I have just done a fresh check on My Blog Review & was very pleased to see the results, which help to confirm that my SEO efforts are indeed paying off as my site has jumped from a grading of 94.7 in January, to 97.2 today
The above image is the summary of the grading on My Blog Review & although there are a couple of areas I need to pay some attention to, the overall result is very promising indeed, especially when you realise that My Blog Review was 5 months old on the 3rd Feb 2010.
