Infolinks Setup & Installation

We did an article on  Blog Money Infolinks  back around mid May & unfortunately it would seem that quite a few of the less experienced bloggers are having some difficulty in  installing the code into their themes in order to get Infolinks working.

Therefore I am going to go through Infolinks Setup & Installation & show you just how easy the Infolinks code is to install.

Ok now this may seem ridiculous but lets just be certain that everyone has registered for an account with Infolinks before we start, otherwise we will not get the code to function ! So if you have acquired the code from a friend, just chuck it in the bin & go register your own account by clicking this link Infolinks In Text Advertising

Ok now once you log into your account you will need to click on the “Intergration Guide” at the top of the screen, this will then show you the image above. The small amount of code in the blue box at the bottom of the image is the code you will need to add to your site in order to get Infolinks working and placing in text ads for you.

The above code is what Infolinks calls the 1 minute installation & uses default settings, there is however at the top of this window, another button for the “Advanced Intergration Wizard” (see image below)

As can be seen above, there are numerous advanced option to configure the Infolinks code, including colour of links, link style, number of links per page & of course the category of the links that you wish to have shown. On clicking the save button above, you will return the the top image in order to copy the amended code.

Adding The Code To Your Theme

Once you have copied the code from Infolinks, then open your admin panel in WordPress and the click on theme edit, when the editor open (usually with your style.css) ready to edit, select either the Footer.php or the Single_post.php from the right hand menu. Then simple look at the relevant image below to see where exactly to paste the Infolinks code.

Now as far as Infolinks is concerned you should paste the code into every code sheet of your theme / site, however if you do this you will have in text ads popping up in your sidebar, your menus & your header, so my advice to you is to only paste the code from Infolinks preferably into your footer.php or your single_post.php as shown in the images below.

Now I know for those of you that are not comfortable working with php code, this may seem a little confusing or even worrying, but I assure you that if you follow these instructions carefully you will have no trouble at all in getting “Infolinks In Text Advertising” to work on your site.
