Google Top 10 Ranking

Getting a top 10 Google ranking, or a page one ranking with any other search engine for that matter, is really not that difficult if you follow the right steps.

In this article I am going to show you clearly & in laymans terms, exactly what you need to do to achieve some sort of decent ranking with the major search engines.

Now I know there are so called SEO Gurus out there that charge for this sort of info, but I aquired it through trial & error, the only thing it cost me was time. Therefore I will pass it on to my readers completely FREE of charge in the hope they get the same benefits.

Before going any further, lets just deal with the odd doubting Thomas’s lurking in the background Google Top 10 Ranking .

Google Top 10 Ranking

Ranking Check For April 6th

Ok now I assume that anybody reading this would be equally happy to have that sort of ranking report for their own website..?

Not convinced..? ok try the next two images.

How To Achieve These Results

Ok to make this as easy to follow as possible, I will layout the procedure in steps, if you then follow these steps then there is no reason at all that you cannot get similar search engine ranking results for your own blog or website.

Step 1. Choose a topic for your article..?

Step 2. Now use Google’s Keyword Tool to check for suitable keywords / keyphrases relevant to your topic.

Step 3. Select only keywords with less than 50% competition factor. The higher the competition, the harder it is going to be to rank for that keyword. If it happens that you are unable to find any suitable keywords with a low enough competition factor, then I suggest you choose another topic.

Step 4. Choose a title using the keywords you have got using Google’s Keyword Tool. This title is the one that goes to make up the URL / permalink to your article, it should be kept short, sweet & to the point, it should not contain stop words & does not need to be grammatically correct. This title is more for search engine use, than human readers. Also bear in mind that each keyword in your title gets given a percentage of the total value of weighting, for the URL. Therefore the more words you stuff into the URL, the less value each one has.

Example:

Title 1. = ” Google Top 10 Ranking ” This would basically equate to;

Google=33% - Top 10=33% – Ranking=33%

Title 2. = ” Getting Top 10 Google Ranking Easily ” This would basically equate to;

Getting=20% – Top 10=20% – Google=20% – Ranking=20% – Easily=20%

Note: Keywords placed as far left as possible also gain more weight with the search engines.

Note the use of the same keywords

Step 5. Now choose a more elaborate & reader friendly title as shown above, but also including the previous keywords. This is going to be placed at the top of your article in a h3 tag & is mainly for human readers, although it will have some considerable effect on your ranking.

Step 6. Ok now for your article, but refrain from any witty comments etc in the first sentence. Instead use your chosen keywords & create a first sentence to your article, in effect I suppose this is like a 3rd title ! Although this time we are not using the h3 tag, instead we are going to bold this entire first sentence.

Step 7. Write the rest of your article.

Step 8. Make sure you include your chosen keywords / phrases in your last paragraph eg. within the last 150 characters is best.

Step 9. Always spell check your article on completion and any occurence of your keywords & keyphrases throughout your article may be changed to either bold or italic.

Step 10. Now I am using ” All In One SEO Pack “, and I assume that any other similar software is laid out more or less the same way..?

10a. Copy your entire h3 title and paste into the title box of  your AIOSP

10b. Copy your entire bold first sentence (160 character max) & paste into the description box of your AIOSP

10c. Place 2 or 3 keywords or keyphrases into the keywords box of your AIOSP

Note: For those that do not know, if you have the All In One SEO Pack installed, then all the boxes mentioned above are at the bottom of your WordPress editor page.

That my friends is it, 10 easy to follow steps in order to achieve a Top 10 Google Ranking for you blog.

  1. Hi Daniel,

    Thanks for the comment, these tips work very well for this site anyway, so I assume that if anyone else adopts the same strategy then they should get similar results.

  2. Really nice article and very useful for a website owner thanks for these 10 tips.

  3. @Cy, yes it is true , you do not have to do it!

    If you choose not to do it then your 1st title (the one that becomes your URL) will be used as default. Also an excerpt would be created from anywhere on the page, but not necessarily including your keywords!

    By following the steps I have laid out, YOU are choosing the keyword rich title & you are also choosing the keyword rich excerpt! This obviously makes a world of difference to you page ranking as it makes it much more focussed.

    Hope that helps clarify the points..?

  4. They said there is no need to fill up the “All in one SEO” part in the wordpress blog. I have a blog with that plugin but it never get into rank 1.

    That is my problem.

  5. @T.Barnett,
    Yes “All In One SEO Pack” is a plugin for WordPress & ok you don’t use WordPress ! Nonetheless whatever CMS or blogging software you are using, will possibly have an equivelant SEO plugin, if not then it is simply a case of entering the relevant details manually.
    At the end of the day, this is about using the correct SEO procedures, which can be applied to any website.

  6. What a useful article. A step by step approach is just what I need – although I had no idea what the all in one SEO pack was. I assume it’s a WordPress thing and I’m not on WordPress.

    Eerything else was great though. Many thanks.

  7. Hi Nancy,

    Thanks for the great comment.

    With regard to what someone had told you about AIOSP, I think the part about the title is actually what I showed in the article, instead of just allowing the the first title (used as part of the URL), You can substitute the default title for a far more reader friendly version, yet still maintain great ranking. In effect what I am doing is allowing the default title as a h2 tag but then adding a 2nd title as a h3 tag & as the keywords are in both titles, then it becomes pretty clear what the outcome is likely to be ;-) . As for the part about first paragraph, I think this relates to what I said about bolding the first sentence or two & then using these as the decription in AIOSP, in effect you are changing the default excerpt that the search engines use, in favour of a far more keyword rich excerpt. ;-)

    Hope that explains it for you..?

    Regards Steve

  8. Finally, a step-by-step explanation of what to do, and how to do it.

    I’ve picked up some of this information from various sources, but having it all in one place, great!

    Someone once told me that the AIOSP supersedes the actual title, and the first paragraph of the article. Is this correct?

    Never heard anything before about putting keywords in the last 150 characters of the article.

    PS you can move the AIOSP to just under your article body box in WordPress, less likely to forget to do it!

    Thanks so much for your wonderful and helpful post.
