Arjuna X WordPress Theme Review
Arjuna X Free WordPress Theme is definitely a breath of fresh air amongst themes. A clean stylish design & bursting with options, this theme just oozes quality!
It is not very often you will find a theme that has been designed with the user in mind, many of the more difficult tasks or mods that we often choose to implement, such as adding a category menu bar or changing the width of a sidebar, are already included in this theme’s options page.
What is even more impressive, is the fact that these options are laid out in such a way that even a child could understand and set this theme up from scratch in around 20 minutes. SEO focused & with multi browser compatability, IE6-8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera, this is also one of the few free themes you will find that is also W3 compliant, this clearly shows that the author of this theme has spent some considerable time getting things right from the begining.
Arjuna Screenshot
The Arjuna theme for WordPress has been designed to fit a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 & therefore there is minimum screen wastage on either side, perhaps around half an inch. However if you choose a higher screen resolution 1280 x 800 for example, then you will get approximately 1.5 inch wastage either side! This is my only criticism of this theme, but as it is a free WordPress theme, then we can hardly expect the author to put in the extra work required in order to make it a fluid width theme. Perhaps this could be an added feature for a paid version..?
Arjuna X Options Panel

As we can clearly see, the Arjuna options screen is brimming with features which have obviously been designed to make our lives easier. Forget about having to hack code sheets to get what you want, this theme puts it all within easy access.
Category & Page Menu Bars

All the option you need in order to setup a page or category menu bar & one very handy feature is the built in ability to exclude any categories based on name instead of having to hunt around for the category ID numbers.
Sidebar Options

The sidebar options offered with the Arjuna X WordPress theme offer left or right placement, 3 different widths & also the option to add RSS & Social Buttons. This is a big plus as far as I am concerned, as sidebar widths are one of my pet hates! There is nothing worse than having to struggle to try and get your favourite widget to fit into a sidebar that has just been added as an after thought.
The Arjuna X Free Theme for WordPress is definitely worth a 2nd glance & although the grey background may not be everybodies choice, it can be easily changed from the theme’s stylesheet. Overall I would have to give 9/10 for this theme and as I said earlier, the only thing that I feel lets it down is the fact that it does not have a fluid width.

Hi Paul,
without a screenshot it is very difficult to suggest a solution.
Arjuna X has got a setting in the (theme options) to adjust the width
of the sidebar & to place it on the left or right handside of the page.
If you have already tried this setting & are still having problems,
then check the width of the item & also the width of the sidebar,
becuse very often when padding is added to a sidebar it will no
longer accept some of the widgets you may wish to use.
Hope that helps Steve
Hi I am using this theme now and for the life of me can’t sort out how to make the side bar only use one column it squishes everything and makes it look horrible. From your screen shot it looks fine though. I cant find this option anywhere please help been looking for months!
Awesome, thanks mate!
It will make a good starting point.
Hi Mick,
Nah not dumb at all, it was done using a 2 x 2 table & just plain simple html.
There is an article explaining how to do it & the code is also there to download should you require it;

If you get any problems then just give me a shout OK

Hi Steve,
Dumb question, but I was just wondering how or what widget you used to get the sponsored ads in your sidebar (as shown in your screenshot). I struggle with formatting / aligning images in my Arjuna X sidebar (currently using ‘simple image’ widget). Thanks!
@ Glyn,
Can you elaborate a little Glyn..?
Because all articles need a title irrespective of the theme.
How do I suppress the title of the post in the Arjuna theme?
I like the theme to be honest. But i seem to have difficulty with the seo of certain pages they just dont want to appear in the google index no matter what.
Yeah that’s correct Joe & incase you haven’t found out yet, you can do exactly the same to identify category numbers, in case you wish to drop a category from a menu bar. Very often people will drop the uncategorized one , but this is usually number 1 anyway, being the first category created.
Hi Joe,
Simply align your image left and the text will automatically wrap around it.
Thanks for the tip
Also, being a little new, can you tell me how me how in your example shown at the top of the page, the best way to get article text to wrap around the picture and/or a google ad pane
I suspect it is easy and if I had the ability to figure it qick, it wouldnt take too long!
Thanks again
By the way, there is an auto generated numerical Page ID which is identified at the bottom of the window in the status area when you hover over the page headings in the dashboard/pages admin area.
Hi Daniel,
Nice to hear you got it soted !
hi, sorry for the late reply. after reading your reply about alphabetical and numeric it made “click” in my head and then I was able to do it:) All good now, thank you.
Hi Daniel,
This is going to be a little difficult to answer unless you can be more specific regarding the problem & what exactly is the result you are getting.
I have just double checked Arjuna on a test blog & as far as I can see it works perfectly in producing either an alphabetic or a numerically ordered page menu bar. What exactly are you trying to do & what exactly is the result you are getting..???
Perhaps then I can help you out !
Arjuna is a great theme and easy to use. However, I am having difficulties to understand the page order. I know that I can choose the number of order in Pages. But this does not do the job completely. Then I have to go to >Arjuna Options >Second Header Menu >Sorting Order where I can choose ‘descending’ and one of the four options ‘page title, page ID, page slug, page order’. Unfortunately none of this options does the job as I would like it to have. Probably I don’t understand exactly the differences of these four options. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Hi Joe,
Arjuna is really no different to any other theme when it comes to adding Adsense. The best I can suggest to you initially would be to read this article; http://www.my-blog-review.com/google-adsense-optimization
That actually tells you easy methods of implementing the code if you use the plugin that is mentioned you only need insert one line of PHP code instead of a large chunk of Java that Google gives us !
using arjuna on a site
bit of a rookie here
how can I implement google adsense code that I have?
thank you
Mathew, comments normally relate to one post only & therefore you would not be able to see comments when viewing your articles on the home/index page as you are viewing multiple posts.
Selecting a specific article to read should then give you the comment made on that article at the end of the page. By the way this page you are commenting on is not my home page, it is imply one article! Check http://www.my-blog-review.com to see what I mean.
If you still wish however to show comments on your index page irrespective of which article they relate to, then I would suggest using a RSS widget in your sidebar & using your comment feed as the address you would need to enter eg http://www.your-domain.com/comments/feed/
This will then display x number of comments in your sidebar !
I’ve been trying my standard comments.php but I’m having trouble applying it below all my posts on the front page. I would like actual comments to be made on my main page like your page here.
Hi Mathew, are you talking about your standard comments plugin in the sidebar that displays x number of recent comments..? or are you talking about allowing actual comments to be made on your index page…?
Hi Steve, I have a quick question about the Arjuna Theme. My site is force-factor-reviews. I would like to place a comments plugin under the main index/ main home page, but I’m having trouble doing so. Is there any comment plugin that I can just put the code into the main index.php to make this work? It would help out a lot, thanks!
