Improve Alexa Ranking With Traffic Generation Methods
Ok assuming that you have implemented all 5 previous tips, then the only remaining task is to generate a little traffic in order to improve our Alexa Ranking.
There are numerous methods to generate website traffic, but not all of them would be recommended. Choose the wrong method & your website bounce rate will hit the roof & your ranking with the likes of Google will nose dive, so take extreme care over what service or option you choose to employ in your quest for traffic!
In this article we will examine some of the methods often used & highlight any pitfalls that we are aware of.
Traffic Exchange Systems
There is a neverending supply of traffic exchanges available on the internet, just do a search with Google and you will fill your screen with an endless supply. I cannot tell you that they do not bring traffic, because in my case, when I tried 3 of the more popular ones, they did indeed boost my traffic.
But there is a heavy price to pay for this traffic & that’s your webs bounce rate soaring sky high ! When I finally decided to pull the plug on traffic generation, this website bounce rate had reached an astonishing 97.4% which equates to 97.4 visitors in every 100 just disappearing after just a few seconds (20 to 30 seconds to be precise). So please be warned! Of all the traffic exchange systems I have tried, I would have to say that LinkReferral does stand out as one of the better ones.
Article Submission
This is one of the oldest tried & trusted methods of generating some extra eyes on your pages. Although not as effective as it once was, there are still a few good sites still out there, namely Ezine Articles & Go Articles. Yes they will produce traffic, but this is directly proportional to the amount of effort you put in to submitting articles to them !
To get the best from this method, I have found that you are in effect writting articles for to websites eg your own website or blog plus the article directory you choose to use. This can become very tiresome even using an article spinner to produce different copies of articles already published on your website/blog takes a ridiculous amount of time.
Submit Your Site To RSS Directories
Often overlooked, this is an easy method to impliment and risks no penalties that I am aware of. In our Alexa Ranking Tip 3 I included two lists, ” RSS & Blog Directory lists ” I would seriously advice you to use these lists, but do not submit your site to all of them straight off ! Just submit to half a dozen or so per week & at least by doing this your links will appear natural to the likes of Google. One added benefit to this is the increase in subscribers to you site.
Guest Writing On Another Site
Although not a long term strategy, this can bring in quite a bit of traffic as I recently discovered when I wrote a guest article on Hellboundbloggers.com & yes I am aware that you could adopt the attitude that your helping & promoting a competitor, but I think there is more than enough internet users to satisfy everyone. I must be honest with you here, if you try to isolate yourself by limiting your involvement with other sites, then I think you will find it hard going! Just look at how social media has taken off..? did they get that big by keeping everything to themselves..? Just off one article I recieved around 40 comments on my own site, that’s not counting the visitors that did not comment !
Traffic Sats Widget..?
Yes I bet this one has got you puzzled 
Well I don’t know why or how it works (sorry), but I can tell you that the inclusion of FeedJit’s Live Traffic widget on your website, does actually bring in traffic.
The only way I can see this working, is that by using their widget you become part of their blogosphere, as other users then visit your site it will show on FeedJit’s blogosphere and maybe it just provokes curiosity in other viewers..? However it does work & not only does it bring in traffic, but funnily enough hundreds of backlinks also, now how Google views these backlinks I am not too sure, I suspect they are only counted as one link as they all originate from the same source.
Summary
Well that is about it my friends, after reading all 6 articles on Alexa Ranking & implementing the advice given, you should now be seeing a considerable increase in your sites Alexa Traffic Rank. The final article is going to show you screen shots of the increases that have taken place on my site since writing these articles, but that will probably follow in a few days time.
One final comment I would like to make, there have been comments made that Alexa ranking is easy & that it counts for nothing ! I would like to point out in response to these comments;
1. If you intend to sell advertising space on your website, then Alexa Ranking is of prime importance, as it is often used by a potential advertiser in order to gauge the effectiveness of advertising on a particular site.
2. If a website is regionalized then it does not compete with the entire world & therefore it can seem a hell of a lot easier for such a site to increase it’s Alexa Ranking.

LinkReferral is much better than fully-automated traffic exchanges services which have almost no values. By the way, I think this tips can help in general traffic increase too. It’s not only a matter of Alexa rank increase
